ABOUT ME
With over 25 years’ experience of marketing artists, brands and products, it’s clear I’m not exactly a whippersnapper. But with age comes wisdom (along with unwanted facial hair) so I think I’ve still got a lot to offer.
I spent many years in the music industry and my last full-time role was as Senior Marketing Manager at a major record company. In that role I managed strategic marketing campaigns for a fabulous roster of artists including Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Tony Bennett, Bette Midler, Barry Manilow and Rick Astley. (Oh and the Bay City Rollers.) I created successful album marketing campaigns with budgets of up to and over £1m.
However, twelve years ago, I took the plunge and became freelance and I love the variety that being a consultant offers me. As well as still being involved in music marketing, I’ve broadened my experience and have worked for a diverse range of other businesses including a franchise photography company, a wine distributor, a stage school and a tutoring company. My current freelance work can be split into three main areas, the music industry, small business and copywriting, all of which you can find a little more detail about on the relevant pages on this very site.
I’m one of those annoying people who thoroughly enjoys what they do, and I particularly relish overseeing projects that bring in all areas of the marketing mix. But whether it’s a one-page copywriting job or you want me to work as an outsourced Marketing Director, what you’ll get from me is passion, hard work, integrity and humour.
Away from work I love my dog, musical theatre, Pinot Grigio and cheese. I also really like to try learning new things. My macramé knot tying course is going pretty well, but sadly I had to give up my tap dancing lessons when I realised that my tapping prowess was more Fred Flinstone than Fred Astaire.
Finally, I have a unique claim to fame. I’m one of the most ubiquitous voices in the UK. Millions hear me every day in Boots, Lloyds, Barclays, M&S, Sainsbury’s and many more nationwide establishments. Because I’m the voice of….’Cashier No.3 Please’. Honestly, I really am.
